Install macOS 10.13 High Sierra and 10.15 Catalina on VMware

2022/06/19 14:50

Windows PC environment

Win10

256 GB SSD

Install macOS 10.13 High Sierra

Speed after installation: very smooth

Problems:

(1)font is blur: although it’s still acceptable, but the font is a little bit blur.

Please use this VMware command line to change the resolutions. You can change the ‘1980’ or ‘1080’ to whatever your display fits.

/Library/Application\ Support/VMware\ Tools/vmware-resolutionSet 1920 1080

(2)disk space is not enough for some large App: I strongly recommend to set your VMware disk to above 60 GB, or you may can’t install some large App like Android Studio or X code.

Install macOS 10.15 Catalina

Speed after installation: not very smooth

Problems:

(1)too slow to install VMware tools (darwin.iso): It took very long (around 15mins) to install VMware tools. I’ve thought the system is frozen and I restarted VMware for two times, but actually it didn’t.

(2)too slow to open an App: too slow to open an App such as Finder or Note.

Finnaly, I gave up macOS 10.15 Catalina and reinstalled macOS 10.13 High Sierra.

Please don’t download it here because it’s very slow. Download Xcode on Apple’s official site, it’s super fast.
